Why is Apollo different to other project management programs?

Apollo is different to other similar products as it has a unified and integrated approach to project and contact management.

Apollo's goal is to simplify people's (working and personal) lives. To do this, we feel that it's paramount to unify managing projects, contacts, calendars, personal tasks, etc. in one powerful workspace. This differs to our competitors who tend to offer several separate applications (Project management, Contacts, etc.) which don't communicate between each other (well, not easily anyway).

With Apollo, you won't waste time coordinating different applications: you will use an amazingly fast workspace where everything is shared instantly.

So, what is Apollo's calendar? Is it fully integrated with Apollo?

The calendar in apollo will help you coordinate your work and your life. Work-wise, the calendar will keep track of deadlines, tasks, milestones, contacts, and opportunities. With Apollo, internal users also get a fantastic personal calendar so that they can seamlessly juggle private life and work. Apollo's calendar is fully integrated with the other component in Apollo. This means that there is no hack required -- you will see on the calendar anything that you are responsible for and has a deadline attached to it.

What is the difference between internal and external users?

Internal and external users.

An internal user is part of your own company 1. Internal users have access to your company's contacts, and to the projects they are enabled to. They also have access to the calendar.

You will want to have an internal user for every employee working for you.

An external user is not part of your own company 2: they work for an outside company, and have limited rights. They can't access project data that is marked as private, and have no access to the calendar. They can also be given extra rights.

  • Messages: users can post comments, post messages
  • ...plus to-dos: users can also add, edit and remove task lists and tasks
  • ...plus milestones: users can also add milestones

You will want to have an external user for every person outside your company who will need access to the non-private information of some projects. External users who can access a project are limited in terms of what they can change. They can ONLY do the following:

  • Edit and delete messages and milestones (as long as they entered them in the first place)
  • Tick off, edit and delete any task (regardless of who created it).
  • Assign tasks and milestones to users who belong to their own company, as well as users who belong to the main company.

Can I set dates for task lists?

No. Task lists are just a way to group project tasks. However, task lists can be linked to a milestone, which will obviously have a deadline.

Can Apollo import Basecamp data?

Yes it can! We worked really hard and released a great Basecamp importer. This means that you will be able to take all of your data from Basecamp, and use it in Apollo.
